Our story
What we are searching for is the person who can be trusted to stand between someone and their own helplessness, and not look away. The people who need care did not choose who would care for them. We did.
Our work begins with a search, and it is not an easy one. We are looking for the people this kind of life is meant for, many of them do not yet know they are the ones we have been waiting for. They come for ordinary reasons, and they ask the ordinary questions about cost and time. We do not hold that against them. We came to it the same way, asking the same questions, some of us with a calling we could not yet name.
What we are searching for is harder to see. It is the thing no certificate can prove and we cannot teach: whether a person can be trusted to stand between someone and their own helplessness, and not look away. And we have learned, over the years and over the chairs we once sat in ourselves, that it can live in someone who has not put words to it, and that our job is to recognise it before they do.
Our purpose
To find the people who are called to care.
We believe the people receiving the care deserve better than this sector has given them, and that belief is the reason for everything else. The students matter, and their success matters, because they are how that better care reaches the people who need it.
"We're going to get old, and the last thing we want is someone who didn't get the right education looking after us."
